Psalm 36 (read)
- God's love is limitless. Its depth is beyond measurement and cannot be understood by the human mind fully.
- I did not, nor can I truly be deserving of God's love but He still loves me anyway.
- I can only be righteous through Christ's finished work, but even before having knowledge of this, God already loved me.
History of an old hymn:
"Could we in ink the ocean fill, And when the skies of parchment made, were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade; to write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; Nor could the scroll contain the whole though stretched from sky to sky." - Ancient Jewish poem and were once found on the wall of a patient's room in an insane asylum.
For reflection:
- Could the patient be really clinically insane yet understood the depths of God's love?
- Or he is a Jew that was entrapped in the asylum for his religious practices?
