Freedom of speech

 - Because of the pandemic, people are edgier than before. And because we are in modern times, people are likely to use the internet, bringing along their thoughts and feelings. Sometimes they don't filter what they say. And at times, they forget to think first before they react. Surely, freedom of speech and social media is not all bad. It just has to be used rightly and in ways that are beneficial to all. Use freedom to speak right!

Proverbs 25:11-15 - Part 1: Speaking and listening

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. (v.11)

- Be sensitive. Not everyone can accept our unfiltered opinions. Also, we can speak in a timely manner, depending on the occasion. If we are outspoken about our opinions, let's make sure that our heart is set on glorifying God and not ourselves. We can impart wisdom in a humble manner yet not losing the essence of what we want to say.

Listening to good advice is worth much more than jewelry made of gold (v.12)

- Learn to listen intently. Especially of we need advice or we're at fault. It helps in reflecting later on.

A messenger you can trust is just as refreshing as cool water in the summer (v.13)

- Choose wisely in whom you confide in. Remember this especially when we're surrounded by different people. Not everyone will be good to us.

- Learn to discern what they say to you.

Broken promises are worse more than rain clouds that don't bring rain (v.14)

- Be careful what you promise lest you won't be able to fulfill it.

- Do not lie! We are called to live the truth, and to speak the truth in love.

Patience and gentle talk can convince a ruler and overcome any problem (v.15)

- Example: Esther's story

- This helps in avoiding quarrels

Mark 4:39 - Part 2: Silence

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

- God.can calm the storms of life. We just need to trust him.

Psalm 46:10 - Part 3:  Waiting

He says, "Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

- Let's wait eagerly for Christ's return and glory!
